Our first clinical trial is registered

Rohilkhand Medical College and Hospital at Bareilly International University in India has registered a clinical trial of our Care Partner Agent. The participants are the families and caregivers of patients diagnosed with metabolic syndrome. The work is supported by the Bareilly Medtech Incubation and Innovation Labs Foundation.
It is worth explaining what is being tested, and why we chose to test it on people who are not the patient.
The person nobody configures for
Almost all of digital health is built for the patient. That makes sense. The patient has the diagnosis.
But in most chronic conditions, the person who has to change their behaviour is not the patient alone. It is the spouse who does the shopping. The daughter who manages the medication list. The son who notices that something is different this week and cannot tell whether it matters.
These people receive very little. A leaflet at the consultation. Another appointment in three months. In between, they carry the daily load with whatever they can find online at two in the morning.
What a Care Partner Agent is
A Care Partner Agent is a conversational agent that a clinician configures for a specific condition and caregiver situation. The clinician sets the condition, language, tone, reading level, and sources the agent draws on. That configuration is saved and turned into a QR code. The caregiver scans it and starts talking. There is no app to download, no account, and no registration. The agent explains what the diagnosis means. It describes what tends to happen next. It answers the questions that went unasked in the consultation because there was no time. When a question belongs with the treating team, it says so and encourages the caregiver to make contact.
What it does not do
It does not diagnose. It does not triage symptoms. It does not make or influence treatment decisions.
That is a design constraint, not a gap we plan to close later. The boundary is set at the configuration level, and the clinician who configures an agent cannot switch it off. There are two reasons for building it this way.
The first is regulatory. An educational tool that drifts into clinical decision support becomes a medical device, with all the obligations that follow. We would rather sit clearly outside that boundary than argue about where the line falls. The second matters more. A caregiver who has been told something clinical by software will act on it. If the software is wrong, that action happens at home, at night, with no clinician present. The safest thing an agent can do with a clinical question is explain why it belongs to the treating team.
Why metabolic syndrome
Metabolic syndrome is a reasonable first test because almost everything that moves outcomes happens outside the clinic. Diet, movement, sleep, and medication adherence are daily decisions made in a household, and rarely by one person alone. The trial asks a narrow question. Does structured, reliable education change how confident and supported a caregiver feels? We are not claiming it changes clinical outcomes. That would be a different trial with a different design, and we have not run it. Starting with the caregiver experience is the honest place to begin, because it is what the agent actually acts on.
Dementia is where the need is sharpest
The caregiving burden in dementia is heavier, longer, and more isolating than in almost any other condition. Support is built around the patient. The family is left to work it out, often for years, and often while grieving someone who is still alive. Our dementia Care Partner Agent is built. There is a working demo at demo.dhealth.com. It is one example of the platform, and the same architecture can be configured for other conditions. What we do not have yet is a clinical partner to test it with. A memory clinic, a neurology department, a patient association, or a care organisation willing to run a structured evaluation with real caregivers. BMIIL has offered to help find one, which we appreciate.
More agents are in preparation, including NutriAgent for dietary counselling. You can test our demo https://demo.dhealth.com/
