DHP and ACTIV supply and tokenomics

The ACTIV token was created as a buffer zone between the UPD8 ecosystem and the dHealth ecosystem. ACTIV is earned by completing exercises via Strava, Garmin, or Fitbit which is linked to...

The Digital Health Point (DHP) token is the backbone of dHealth’s healthcare network. The token is minted via a Proof-of-Stake consensus protocol and its maximum supply is 2 billion.

At the current moment the token can be transferred, expended for transaction fees on dHealth’s L1, staked to secure the dHealth network, or exchanged for ACTIV. Stakers earn 90% of block rewards and node operators earn 10% of the block rewards. In the near future DHP will have many more utilities, covering a multitude of dHealth’s B2B use cases.

Two examples of such use cases are powering the incentivization behind the Centiva Health Management & Surveying Platform, as well as the UPD8 Health Ecosystem.

The use of DHP represents a forward-thinking approach to managing and securing a decentralized healthcare network, offering benefits in security, reliability, and efficiency, among others. Moreover, the use of the DHP token in securing and maintaining the dHealth network presents several significant advantages.

Let's delve into some of these key benefits:

  • Enhanced Security: The use of cryptographic tokens like DHP adds a layer of security to the network. Blockchain technology, which underpins these tokens, is known for its robust security features, making it virtually impossible for unauthorized parties to alter or access sensitive data.
  • Network Reliability: The fact that the dHealth network has operated without any downtime since the launch of the DHP token is a testament to its reliability. This uninterrupted service is crucial in healthcare, where consistent access to medical data and services can be a matter of life and death.
  • Decentralization: By using a crypto token, the dHealth network benefits from decentralization. This means no single entity has control over the entire network, reducing the risk of centralized data breaches and ensuring a more democratic control over the network's future.
  • Token Economy and Incentives: the utilization of the cryptographic token DHP enables the realization of incredible opportunities such as a very efficient globally accessible healthcare-specific ledger, tokenization of healthcare assets, as well as provision of incentivization for various use cases.
  • Transparency: Blockchain's inherent transparency allows for a detailed breakdown of token distribution and usage. Stakeholders can track the allocation of resources, ensuring that the network remains accountable to its users.
  • Facilitation of Transactions: In a healthcare network, numerous transactions, such as payment for services or data-sharing agreements, are essential. Using DHP tokens could streamline these processes, making transactions quicker, more efficient, and potentially reducing costs.
  • Global Accessibility: Crypto tokens are not bound by national currencies or regional financial systems. This makes the dHealth network potentially more accessible to users worldwide, overcoming some of the traditional barriers in global healthcare collaboration.
  • Community Governance: The use of tokens often comes with governance rights, allowing token holders to have a say in the direction and development of the network. This can lead to a more user-centric evolution of the network, where decisions are made in the best interest of the majority.
  • Innovation Incentives: The success and stability of the network, backed by the DHP token, could attract more innovation in the healthcare sector, with developers and entrepreneurs motivated to create new applications and services that can be integrated into the dHealth network.
  • Data Integrity and Compliance: With regulatory compliance being a significant concern in healthcare, the use of blockchain and crypto tokens can help in maintaining the integrity of health data, adhering to laws and regulations such as patient privacy and data protection.

Next, let’s dive deep into the tokenomics of DHP itself.

DHP tokenomics

The DHP token was launched as part of the dHealth mainnet launch in March of 2021. Since then, the token has been used to secure and maintain the dHealth network, which operated without any downtime. So far 87.5% of the total token supply has been minted. A detailed breakdown can be seen below.

The token has been bridged to Ethereum and Binance Smart Chain(BSC), and is available on two decentralized exchanges and two centralized exchanges:

MEXC

P2B

Uniswap

PancakeSwap

At the current moment, a manual bridge is employed which can be accessed via this form. A maximally secure decentralized & automatic bridge is planned in the near future.

The total minted supply(87.5%) is maintained across all chains, no extra tokens are unlocked for the purpose of bridging.

The current DHP supply in circulation is calculated by taking the number available on this link and subtracting it from the number available on this link

The available supply on ETH is visible here, and the available supply for BSC is available here. The supply present on ETH and BSC is equal to the bridging address on the native chain available here.

Important note:

• For the time being the DHP token of the BEP20 standard is called bDHP.

• Sometimes, due to the effect of manual bridging the numbers for the bridging address and supply present on ETH and BSC don’t add up, however, this is rectified every few days—manually

It is planned to replace the current Symbol-based dHealth L1 with a Cosmos-based L1. All native tokens will be bridged to the Cosmos network when migration is performed. DHP tokens on all chains, now and in the future, will remain to be swappable in a 1:1 ratio. It is the same token, regardless of the chain it resides on.

ACTIV token

The ACTIV token was created as a buffer zone between the UPD8 ecosystem and the dHealth ecosystem. ACTIV is earned by completing exercises via Strava, Garmin, or Fitbit which is linked to the UPD8 app.

Learn more here

The maximal supply of ACTIV is not capped, and is not related to DHP. The exchange between ACTIV and DHP is enabled to provide the initial utility for ACTIV, as there are currently no other utilities.

In the future, ACTIV will have other utilities, such as providing discounts on health & fitness related services. The discounts will require the expenditure of ACTIV, it will not be enough to merely possess it.

The utility of exchanging DHP for ACTIV will be removed when the threshold of 10,000 beta users is reached. Redeeming ACTIV for DHP via the UPD8 app will be a permanent feature, however, the redemption rate will be reduced as the user base grows. You can find out more about how to exchange ACTIV for DHP, or vice versa, here.

Anyone can earn ACTIV by signing up for fitness tracking on the UPD8 app. Currently, the UPD8 user base is capped at 10,000 participants. The participant cap is set to avoid depletion of the dHealth team’s DHP treasury.  Simply giving out tokens to the community for exercising is not sustainable. We aim to bring in organizations and states into the UPD8 ecosystem to incentivize healthy behaviour.

This will create a demand for DHP as clients or states will have to purchase a pool of DHP upfront, via the open market, to provide the incentivization for healthy behaviour of their employees, members, constituents, or citizens.

The upfront purchased DHP is locked in a pool, and the pool is accessible for ACTIV<>DHP conversion only by the employees, members, constituents or citizens of that specific client or state purchasing the DHP.

Each client has their own pool and redemption rate, depending on the client's desired budget for healthy behaviour incentivization.

The DHP token will remain the core of dHealth’s ecosystem, whilst ACTIV tokens will be used exclusively within the UPD8 ecosystem. Hence, ACTIV will never be listed by the team on neither centralized, or decentralized exchanges. However, it is possible that holders of ACTIV will open up their own liquidity pools on decentralized exchanges.

It is important to note that when ACTIV tokens are issued to UPD8 users for exercise, this does not affect the DHP token supply in any way, as the team has set aside an allocation of DHP for the purpose of exchanging users’ ACTIV for DHP. When ACTIV is redeemed for DHP, DHP is provided from the team treasury, and the redeemed ACTIV is put back into a pool used for the provision of UPD8 exercise rewards.

To further clarify—DHP has not been minted nor locked up—to enable the redemption of users’ ACTIV for DHP. Instead, there is a DHP allocation set aside for the ACTIV>DHP redemption, by the dHealth team.

This allocation is finite. Albeit it can be expanded should a justified need arise. As a result of the finite allocation—there is a user limit for the beta version of the app.

Exchanging DHP and ACTIV

Users can exchange the ACTIV they earned into DHP and vice versa.

1 ACTIV = 3 DHP (Until public release)

To convert ACTIV into DHP, send this transaction:

From your dHealth wallet, enter the following:

- Recipient Address: NCTWBIPQ4HTANYYILZ6Q6Y2H2KB3MDVDJY5UW4Y

- Asset: Choose the asset

- Message: Leave this empty

When the transaction is confirmed, you will receive the DHP in your wallet.

To convert DHP into ACTIV, send this transaction:

- Recipient Address: NCTWBIPQ4HTANYYILZ6Q6Y2H2KB3MDVDJY5UW4Y

- Asset: Choose DHP

- Message: 09DC02CE4DC5E140

When the transaction is confirmed, you will receive the ACTIV in your wallet.

UPD8 Ecosystem

We aim to transform Move-to-Earn into Health-to-Earn, by adding two more focus areas to the UPD8 app: diet (nutrition) and mental health (stress). Exercise incentivization is the easiest to operationalize, hence, it was the first target of development and deployment.

The holistic approach dHealth is undertaking to incentivize healthy habits will no doubt revolutionize the healthcare sector by significantly cutting costs through preventative measures. It will also significantly improve the living standard of its users!

This will be achieved by connecting traditional healthcare stakeholders like clinics and governments with preventative health practices like fitness, nutrition, and stress management.

We aim to induce behaviour change through gamification and foster a sense of community. One of the first features to be deployed with this in mind is the event feature that will boost ACTIV rewards during specific events, limited to location and time.

We are in the process of securing partnerships with sports brands and wellness companies that will get the following benefits, by joining our UPD8 ecosystem:

  • Gaining exposure to over 10,000 potential users
  • Engaging with users through corporate programs or wellness offerings
  • Gaining exposure to a community interested in health and fitness

Conclusion

The creation of the ACTIV token cannot negatively affect the DHP price as the ability to earn DHP by exchanging ACTIV for DHP is quite small. This is because dHealth’s DHP treasury neither can, nor should—support the incentivization of healthy behaviour of the entire world to a notably significant degree.

The ACTIV<>DHP exchange utility, funded by the dHealth team itself—has been put in place to add initial utility to ACTIV, as a demonstrative measure for B2B clients. Ultimately the UPD8 ecosystem will no doubt positively affect DHP token price as a result of DHP lock-ups that utilize the ACTIV>DHP redemption utility.

UPD8 users can expect more features that will incentivize them to be healthy as a result of continuous development, as well as more utilities of the ACTIV token.
